Did you know that men who live alone without a wife or kids have to cook and clean for themselves? If you didn't know this, there is a book about it, "The Man Who Cooked For Himself" by Phyllis Krasilovsky, pictures by Mamoru Funai. At one point in the story, the man runs out of food, but finds food not far from his house, like fish, apples, blackberries and watercress. He also finds some acorns.In front of him was a giant oak tree full of acorns.
"Why, I can make pancakes out of them!" the man said.
He shook the branches and pounds and pounds of acorns came tumbling down.
I've never made pancakes from acorns. If you know a good acorn pancake recipe let me know... I'd like to try them.
